Join Jose and Club 4×4 for an overnight trip to Mount Cole State Forest

Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

We will meet on Saturday at 10 am in Beaufort, around the Bakery on the main road (Neil St/Western Highway). We will enter Mt Cole SF from the SE, close to Raglan. We will do some tracks mostly on the southern half of the forest. After lunch we will drive North and then West to camp in Chinamans campsite. On Sunday we will do some more tracks on the Northern half of the park before heading to Elmhurst, where the trip will end around 1 pm. Those willing may wish to join Jose in the Avoca Hotel to enjoy some of the best burgers in Victoria.

Brief directions to meeting point:

Take the M8/A8 (Western Highway) direction Ballan-Ballarat-Ararat. Beaufort is halfway between Ballarat and Ararat, ~170 km from the Northern suburbs. Allow for a 2-hour drive.

Recovery gear for Difficult-rated trips.
All-terrain or mud tyres.
Food, drinking water and sleeping gear for a weekend trip.
The Chinamans campsite has water tanks, toilets and a sheltered area, but come prepared for rain and cold weather.
