Join Club 4×4 and Wayne on a mid-winter trip to Woods Point.

Club 4x4 Trip Notice
Trip Location
Location:Woods Point
Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

Let’s brave the cold for a mid-winter adventure to Woods Point. We may even get a chance to do some snow driving if there is snow down to 1300m elevation.

Make your own way to camp at Running Creek Reserve on Friday afternoon or evening. I am hoping to get there at about 4pm. Telstra’s mobile coverage map indicates that there is service at the campsite, so I can be contacted if required. Toilet facilities available.

On Saturday we will head south to Woods Point via Symes Tk, Mitchells Tk, Jamieson Lookout Tk, Flourbag Tk, German Spur Tk (max 1140m) and Old Coach Rd into camp at Comet Flat. Toilet facilities available.

On Sunday we will cross over to the western side of Mansfield-Woods Point Rd and climb to higher elevations for those of you hoping to see some snow. Up Frenchman’s Gap Tk to Corn Hill (1326m) then along Ryan Spur Tk to visit Ryan Spur Hut. From there we will continue north to Mt Terrible (1316m) and then down Newman’s Tk to Eildon-Jamieson Rd where we will air-up and head out to complete the trip in Eildon.

Start Location:Running Creek Camping Reserve, Howqua
Finish Location:Eildon
Brief directions to meeting point:

Head out of Mansfield on the Mt Buller Rd and turn right into Mansfield-Woods Point Rd. Continue for about 19km and then turn left into Howqua River Rd just after the bridge over the Howqua River. Continue along this dirt road for about 8km before turning left into the campground as sign posted.
