EVERYONE on a club trip must be registered as a General Member, Temporary Member or Junior Member (see Member Categories).

BEFORE applying for membership please read the general Club information, Trip Rules, Trip Ratings and Club Values. As a member of the club, under any membership category, you must comply with our rules and values.

Once we receive your application, an invoice will be sent with details on how to pay any fees owing. Membership begins when fees are received and the acceptance email is sent. Please note that applications take several days to process.

Membership Categories

Membership Eligibility & Application

Any person is eligible to be a member if:

a)            such person supports the purposes of the Association

b)            such person agrees to comply with Club 4X4 rules and values, including the Trip Rules

c)             there are eligible places (meaning if there is a cap on numbers, the cap is not reached)

d)            the Committee has approved the application.

The Committee may refuse an application for membership if:

(a)          The Committee considers that the applicant is not prepared to accept our Club Rules and Club values

(b)          There is currently a cap on the number of members and the cap is reached

(c)          The applicant has previously been a member and the previous membership was terminated under the discipline process

(d)          The applicant has previously been a member and the previous membership lapsed with outstanding monies owing to the Club.

(e)          The applicant for General membership was in serious or deliberate breach of Club Rules and Club Values as a Temporary Member.

If the Committee, or its delegate, refuse any application (for any membership category), a reason does not need to be given and there is no right of appeal.

Members may at an Annual General Meeting vote to cap the number of members.

A General Member must be an adult (at least 18 years of age).

A Junior Member must be a child (under 18 years of age) of a General Member or Temporary Member, and must be registered on the Register of Members.

An applicant is considered a member (all categories) when:

(a)          The Application Form is completed; and lodged with the Membership Officer, and

(b)          The Joining Fee and Annual Subscription, if applicable, is received by the Treasurer (Joining Fees, Annual Subscription Fees and Insurance Fees do not apply to Junior Members, Complimentary Members and Guests).

By accepting membership, members agree to comply with Club rules, including Trip Rules, and Club Values

Membership Termination

(1)          A member is no longer a member when:-

(a)          The member resigns in writing, by email is acceptable, or

(b)          The member is informed by Committee that membership has ceased due to non payment of fees, or

(c)          The member is informed by Committee, that their membership is no longer valid due to breaches to the Club’s code of conduct, or any other reason under these rules.

(d)          The member is deceased.

(2)          A member who has resigned or has been informed that their membership is no longer valid, may re-apply for membership. The joining fee may apply if re-accepted as a member.

(3)          A junior membership is automatically terminated when the associated adult member ceases to be a member.

(4)          Temporary membership ceases as per conditions in Rule 13(5).

Register of Members

The Membership Officer must keep and maintain a Register of Members containing for each member

Members must inform the Membership Officer if any of their details in the Register of Members changes

When a member ceases to be a member, all information except the member’s name and the date membership ceased is removed from the Register of Members.

The register is available for inspection by any General Member. A General Member may make a copy of entries in the register for Club purposes only. Any person accessing the register must comply with privacy of information laws.

The Membership Register is not available for inspection by Temporary Members or Junior Members.
