Club 4x4 Trip Notice
Trip Overview
Location:Flinders Ranges NP
Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

I'd just like to start by saying this trip is off-road trailer, camper trailer and caravan friendly.

20th Sep
Meet at Lake Bonny Reserve Rest Area in the afternoon, just out of Barmera S.A fuel available. Trip will begin from here. https://maps.app.goo.gl/SgeZ7w7qTAkJv3EPA

21st Sep
We will leave Lake Bonney and travel towards Port Germein where we will hopefully have a coffee and stretch our legs before travelling towards Melrose VIA the Bridle Track. After reaching Melrose we will head towards Alligator gorge, jump onto the highway and travel for a short distance through Quorn where we will be camping at Warren Gorge for 2 nights.

22nd Sep
After having some brekky and waking up in the Southern Flinders Ranges we will leave camp and head towards the Argadell, where we will do some 4wding at Argadells Station. One of the tracks we will do will be the excellent Mt Arden Track which takes a minimum of 4 hours climbing through some steep country taking in some views. It's the highest point of this part of the Flinders Ranges. If everyone is up to it and time permits we can explore some of the other tracks this station has to offer before heading back to camp. (Cost is $50 per Vehicle)

23 and 24th Sep
Waking up in the morning we will take our time, pack up camp and head towards the Bendleby Ranges VIA the Port Augusta - Hookina Rd, and the iconic Cradock Hotel for a possible lunch. We will stay two nights at the Bendleby Station where there are a few 4WD tracks to explore and some offgrid camping. There are at least 3 to 4 days worth of tracks to be done here so we should be spoilt for choice.

25th to 28th Sep
Packing up camp we will jump onto the RM Williams Way and start heading towards the Ikara - Flinders Ranges NP where we will be staying at the awesome Willow Springs Station. We will be staying here for 4 nights. While here we will be doing an abundance of activities, 4wding (Skytrek and Caernarvon Track), driving Parachilna gorge and Bunyeroo rd, Lunch at the famous Prairie hotel (with a feral feast for those that are adventurous), a mine tour in Blinman for those keen (highly recommend), Nuccaleena and Artimore ruins and some cultural tours at Wilpena Pound for those keen (highly recommend)
29th and 30th sep
After packing up camp we will get on the road and head towards Mt Freeling Station VIA Leigh Creek, and passing Lyndhurst where we can check out the interesting Alf Public Gallery. Making a turn onto the Strzelecki Track heading towards the station we will stay for 2 nights and enjoy some remote camping and some 4wding which promises some of the hardest tracks in the Flinders Ranges.

1st to 3rd October
Leaving Mt Freeling Station we will head towards Weetootla Gorge Via the Mt Hopeless rd where we will stay 3 nights and take in some of the attractions the Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges have to offer like a drive out to Lake Frome, Wurtupa Loop Track and Arkaroola

4th October
We will pack up camp and start making our way home, camp site and route TBC can be discussed on the trip

5th October
Trip ends at said campsite and the final push home.

Maximum number of vehicles permitted:8
Any specific requirements?

- Working winch, UHF and Recovery gear
- Plenty of opportunities for fuel but there are a couple sections that are going to be quite remote, I am bringing x3 jerry cans making my total capacity about 120l
- Common spares for your vehicle
- Basic set of tools
- There will be a couple opportunities along our route during the trip to stop and do some grocery shopping which we will sort out on the trip, but if you pack enough food and supplies for say the first 5 nights to start with that would be good.
- water storage for washing and cooking (again their will be opportunities to fill up water tanks and fuel along our route at multiple points but if you can have the capacity to store at least 4 days worth at a time that would be good.
- Roadside assistance package and good insurance on vehicle and trailer if towing.
- If towing some sort of stone guards on the vehicle would be beneficial as we are going to be traversing dirt roads
