A trip to explore some of the tracks East of Jamieson and then visit a few of my favourite huts in the Buller/Stirling region before the 2021 seasonal track closures come into effect.

Meeting in Mansfield on Friday night, we will then drive to Tunnel Bend Reserve on the Mansfield-Woods Point Rd to camp for the night. Toilet facilities available.

On Saturday we will head up to Fry’s Hut via Snake Edwards Tk, Silvermine Spur Tk, Mitchells Tk and Howqua Hills Tk. After checking out Fry’s Hut, we will then head over to Bluff Tk to visit Bluff Hut and Lovick’s Hut where we will camp for the night. Toilet facilities available.

On Sunday we will backtrack along Bluff Tk, down Sixteen Mile Jeep Tk (if not too wet) to Bindaree Hut and then stop to look at Bindaree Falls. From there we will head up to Craig’s Hut via Monument Tk and Clear Hills Tk. Finally, we will head out via Clear Hills Tk, Circuit Rd and Mt Stirling Rd finishing the trip at the resort entry gate on the Mt Buller Rd in Mirimbah.

Sufficient food, water and fuel for 2 full days in the bush.
Recovery gear as per club trip rules for a Difficult rated trip.
Aggressive AT or MT tyres and a snorkel for river crossings.
Clothing suitable for the High Country on the brink of winter.
Warm bedding as Saturday night at Lovick’s Hut is at 1470m elevation.
