To Moscow and Washington and back – January 2018

Join Jose and Club 4×4 on an exploratory trip into Nunniong State Forest for the long weekend.

We will be looking at some historic landmarks and everyone’s favorite track, Billy Goat Bluff!

Location:Victoria High Country (Nunniong SF, Cassilis, Dargo)
Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

We will meet in the Caltex petrol station in Longwarry on Thursday 25th and drive to the Tambo Crossing campsite on the Great Alpine Road. It will be a long drive so we should depart at 7:00 pm. If you prefer you can drive to the campsite on your own (please notify trip leader).

On Friday we will drive around the Nunniong SF, visit the “Washington Winch” and the “Moscow Hut” and drive up Mount Nugong. We will overnight in Bentley’s Plain, or, if that is too busy, the Timbarra campsites.

On Saturday we will drive through the Cassilis area and Dog’s Grave to Black Flat campsite north of Dargo.

Sunday will be spent around Talbotville and driving up Billy Goat Bluff Track before returning to Dargo.

Brief directions to meeting point:

Follow the M1 (Princess Highway) East and take 4th exit to Sands Rd in Longwarry. Park next to Hungry Jack’s, adjacent to the Caltex servo.

Any specific requirements?

A full tank of fuel, food and water for two days and camping equipment, bathers and towel.

We plan to camp at sites with toilet facilities but if the planned campsite is too full we may have to alter plans and camp at a site without toilets. Please be prepared.
