OZ Day High Country Huts – January 2023

Join Mark and Club 4×4 for a fantastic trip visiting many of the Huts in the Victorian High Country.

The huts we will aim for are Frys Hut, Upper Jamieson Hut, Lovicks Hut, Bluff Hut, Bindaree Hut, King Hut, Craigs Hut, GGS Hut, Bluff Spur Hut, Keep Dry Hut, Howqua Gap Hut, King Saddle Shelter, Razorback Huts, Refuge Mt No 3 Hut, Tomahawk Hut, Hut No 36 and Evans Creek Hut – All subject to time, track conditions, weather

Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

Make the most of the OZ day public holiday on Thursday 26th January, so to reference Jose, to join this trip you may need to take Friday off to "bridge" Thursday into the weekend!

We will mostly follow the Rooftop's Mansfield Huts 4WD tour, we will aim to visit a few huts, we should have plenty of time if we decide to hike to Ritchies Hut or more likely have a dip in one of the rivers.

Huts we will aim for, Frys Hut, Upper Jamieson Hut, Lovicks Hut, Bluff Hut, Bindaree Hut, King Hut, Craigs Hut, GGS Hut, Bluff Spur Hut, Keep Dry Hut, Howqua Gap Hut, King Saddle Shelter, Razorback Huts, Refuge Mt No 3 Hut, Tomahawk Hut, Hut No 36 and Evans Creek Hut. - All subject to time, track conditions, weather etc!

We will meet at the BP Truckstop on Mt Buller Rd in Mansfield where we can top up the tanks before heading off.

The trip is billed as a 2-3 day trip so we should have time to stop and take in a few lookouts and sites along the way.

We will end the trip back at the start in Mansfield.

Any specific requirements?

Full tank of fuel, food, water, clothing and camping equipment for 4 days
Recovery equipment as per the club trip rules for Difficult/Very Difficult-rated trips (winch may be required), tyre deflator and compressor; UHF radio (preferably not just walkie-talkie).
Camp sites may or may not have facilities, plan for all possibilities.
Some huts may require a hike, bring some appropriate footwear and water etc (We may not hike if too hot/members don't wish to)
