| Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary): | Escape the hustle and bustle of the city amongst the Sand Dunes of Wyperfeld NP. After staying overnight on Friday night at the Mallee Bush Retreat in Hoptoun, we will explore the familiar tracks around Lake Albacutya on Saturday and make our way over to base camp - Big Billy Bore - via Milmed Rock track. On Sunday, there is a choice of hanging around the campsite and doing absolutely nothing or exploring the tracks in the area and having a crack at one of the best sand dune around, the humble "Big Dune". To my knowledge, no-one in our club has conquered this dune yet! There are plenty of smaller dunes around in case you feel intimidated... Sunday night, we could do a communal dinner (Stew, BBQ, etc.), if people are interested. After spending the second night at Big Billy Bore campsite we will head home on Monday, exiting the NP via Chinaman Well Track and Nhill in the south. |
