Little Desert National Park – Oct 2017

It’s been a while since the Club went to Little Desert National Park, so join Geoff and Patrick as we return for fun filled weekend of sand driving.

We’ll do the trip in two groups with Geoff leading one and Patrick the other. We’ll be camping together on Saturday night.

We'll travel through the Eastern and Central blocks of the Little Desert National Park. Lots to see in the Desert at that time of year. Early October should have some good weather and the sand wont be too soft.

Camping on Saturday night will be at Stans Camp, no booking is required.

We'll travel in two groups (Patrick will lead one and Geoff the other). We will meet up for Saturday night. The two groups will do the tracks in a different order on Saturday and Sunday.

Brief directions to meeting point:

We'll meet at the Caravan Park and stay Friday Night, the drive is about 4hrs from Melbourne.

We can do a convoy from Melbourne if people are leaving at a similar time. I'll be leaving from the CBD/North Melbourne.

Western Freeway to Horsham then to Natimuk. The caravan park is about 4kms north of Natimuk on the Eastern side of Lake Natimuk. Once you enter the caravan park turn to the right and you can camp near the trees.

Any specific requirements?

Water, food and fuel for two days in the desert as there is none where we are going. We will only be doing about 220kms of driving from Natimuk through the desert and back to Natimuk (most of this is sand driving).

Recovery gear appropriate for sand driving:
- Snatch Strap
- Max-Trax/Treds or similar (if you have them)
- Air Compressor

Warm clothes as it can get very cold at night.
