Mt Buangor and Mt Cole (Day/Overnight) – 19th/20th August 2023

Join Jose and Club 4×4 for an exploratory Trip to the Mt Cole/Mt Buangor State Parks.

This trip can be done either as a Day Trip or Overnight, please let Jose know in your Trip Booking which you would prefer.

Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

Join Jose in an exploratory trip through Mt Buangor State Park and Mt Cole State Forest. You can come for a single day and return home on Saturday night, or stay overnight and make it a two-day trip, your choice.

We will meet on Saturday 19th at 10 am in the Beaufort Bakery on the main road (Neil St/Western Highway). We will drive through several tracks of the Mt Buangor SP and Mt Cole SF bearing north-west, ending in the Chinamans campsite. Those wishing to return home will be able to exit the forest through the main road to Warrak and from there to the Western Highway. The rest will spend the night in Chinamans.

On Sunday we will do some more tracks on the Northern half of the park before heading towards the Elmhurst-Raglan Rd, where the trip will end around 1 pm.

Brief directions to meeting point:

Follow the Western Highway to Beaufort. The Bakery is on the main road, close to the entrance to town. Should be a 1.5-2hrs drive from the northern suburbs

Full fuel tank.
Recovery gear for Difficult-rated trips.
All-terrain or mud tyres.
Food, drinking water and sleeping gear for a weekend trip if you intend to stay overnight.
The Chinamans campsite has water tanks, toilets and a sheltered area, but come prepared for rain and cold weather.
