Trip Overview
Location:Wyperfeld and Murray Sunset Country NP
Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

Hello Everyone, I am planning a trip to Wyperfeld and Sunset Country National Park. This trip will be all about seeing some of the main attractions these two national parks have to offer, as well as some camping under a none obstructed view of the starry night sky! We will be covering a few k's this trip so probably safe to bring a jerry can just in case. There will be fueling opportunities at the start and end of the trip. The trip itinerary is just a guide to the trip outlining roughly what we might be seeing, we can alter the trip if we are running ahead or behind on time or of un foreseen circumstances

Starting on the Thursday night we will all meet and camp at Lake Lascelles, there is free camping right round the lake.

We will start the morning traversing Freeway Track across Lake Albacutya and then onto Milmed Rock Track, we will then do a few tracks hopefully going over and driving a few ridge lines with a view over the Mallee, tackling the iconic 'Big Dune' and heading towards Blue Gums Campsite (Blue Gums Campsite).

We will then head into the Sunset Country and aim to do Pheenys Track east to west ending up at Mopoke Hut, continuing south we will pass a few salt lakes like Lake Becking and Lake Crosbie eventually crossing back over the highway into Wyperfeld.

From there we will explore Wirrengren Plain area which promises some views across the Mallee and an abundance of campsites, continuing south we will pass Eastern Lookout back to lake Albacutya where we will re-evaluate if we have any extra time. if we have extra time we could air up and drive over to Lake Tyrrell.

No campsites are set in stone as there are a lot of places to camp in these parks so we will play it by ear and take it by a day to day basis and work with what time it is in the day and where we are. most places have toilets as well.

Start Location:Lake Lascelles, Hopetoun or Blue Gums Campsite
Finish Location:Hopetoun
Brief directions to meeting point:

Lake Lascelles Campground (google maps) just west of the town of Hopetoun there is free camping right round the lake, just drive around and look for a spot, I will be aiming to be there about 9pm. UHF 16

The alternate meeting point on Friday night is to get yourself to Blue Gums Campsite (https://maps.app.goo.gl/Kop3zZEWiSbngEKq9), it is a +6 hr drive from Melbourne with a short 4WD (3km) into the campsite.
