Club 4x4 Trip Notice
Trip Location
Location:Whitfield area/Alpine NP
Location and/or Description of Trip (Itinerary):

Even though there are a lot of good tracks in the area closed at this time of year, it doesn't mean we can't get out and explore those that aren't. Taking place over the Grand Final long weekend, it is a chance to escape the city and check out some sights such as the 'Kelly Tree', Lake William Hovell, Top Crossing Hut (hopefully), Paradise Falls, Lake Cobbler, Dandonagdale Falls and the views toward Mt Buffalo.

The itinerary is pretty flexible, but hoping to camp at Sandy Flat on the Friday night and at Manna Gum/Tea Tree on the Saturday night. As is usually the case with my trips, there will be a little scenic walk here and there and into camp both days mid afternoon. We may find that some tracks not marked as closed are, but we can play that as we go.

Any specific requirements?

Recovery gear as per the club rules.

All terrain or mud tyres a must as is a snorkel because if the track to Top Crossing Hut is open (which it appears to be), there are two river crossings.

There will be facilities at both campsites and hopefully they won't be busy. Please bring enough food, water and fuel for 3 days of driving.

We are going into the High Country so please also check the weather and dress appropriately.
