The Dunes of Wyperfeld (Take 2) – September 2017

SO POPULAR, WE NEED TO HAVE TWO TRIPS AT THE SAME TIME!

Join Geoff and Club 4×4 escape the city on Grand Final weekend by exploring the dunes of Wyperfeld National Park.  The plan is to travel the tracks of Wyperfeld National Park and Big Desert.

Starting at Hopetoun, we will head west into the Big Desert National Park to Big Billy Bore via Lake Albacutya and Milmed Rock Track.  Camping at Big Billy Bore on the Friday night.

Next day, we will head to the northern parts of the park and then east to one of the campgrounds.  We will make our way home on the third day via Nhill.

This is a very scenic and enjoyable trip and those who haven’t experienced sand driving, this is a great experience.

Mt Disappointment night run Mt Matlock

The search for Snow – July 2017

Join Geoff and Club 4×4 for a day trip up to Mt Matlock on the search for some early season snow.

The weather looks cold and wet for mid next week, lets go and see if we can find some snow. Mt Matlock is the current location but if there is better snow elsewhere we’ll change the location.

Itinerary

There is a short 4WD track up to the summit of Mt Matlock (it is easy but just letting you know). We might go for a short drive north of Mt Matlock to have lunch before returning home in the early afternoon.

If anyone is interested we might stop at the Buxton Hotel on the way home for an early dinner.

Snow Driving Trip – July 2017

Club 4×4’s first snow driving trip of the season is on.  If you have never driven in the snow before, it is a very special experience and a lot of fun.

Itinerary

The plan is to camp below the snow line on Friday night. We’ll find some snow on Saturday and return to camp below the snow line again on the Saturday night. Sunday we’ll do a short drive then finish the trip.

The Location of the trip will be determined by the weather conditions and where there is snow. However it’s likely we’ll have a 2.5 – 3.5 hr drive Friday night and the same to return to Melbourne on Sunday.
